What does it take to build a business?
99.9% of brands take years to build up and become successful and that only happens when you have a clear vision and a desire to help people. If you have a tendency to give on things at the first sign of resistance then you’re probably better off working for someone and starting a business.
But, if you’ve got persistence, a clear vision, and that desire to improve people’s lives then you just might have what it takes to complete the marathon of building a lasting brand.

Intro: Welcome to another episode of the Facebook Marketing Ninja podcast. My name is Jimmy and I’m the Associate Creative Director for Manuel Suarez here at AGM.
And what does it take to build a business? One word – PERSISTENCE.
99.9% of brands take years to build up and become successful. And that only happens when you have a clear vision and a desire to help people.
If you have a tendency to give up on things at the first sign of resistance, then you’re probably better off working for someone else than starting a business.
But if you’ve got persistence, a clear vision, and the desire to improve people’s lives, then you just might have what it takes to complete the marathon of building a lasting brand.

How to Succeed When Building a Brand
One thing that I always encounter is people that give up too early, people that start running advertising campaigns, that they actually invest a couple of dollars and then they don’t get the results they expect overnight or in a week or two, or for that matter two months.
And then they give up and they say, “Wait a second. I tried it. I invested a hundred dollars and I got no results. And I got no return and no sales, this doesn’t work. This is not the way to go for me. I’m just going to invest money on Amazon and just leave it at that.”
That’s a very common attitude.
And this is the reality as to
why most people fail to build brands.
When it’s, when you’re talking about building a brand, you got to understand that you are running a marathon.
This is a long-term career
No business was ever built without a lot of hard work, a lot of persistence, and a lot of dedication in one’s activities going in one particular direction of making your brand known.
Now, there’s a very little known fact about what a marathon really is and what it comes from.
It’s an interesting thing because as I looked at the origin of this word, I was fascinated to understand a couple of things about – why do we use this word so much today?
Well, let’s go back to our ancestors, 490 years before Christ, 490 BC.
This is what a marathon means
This is very interesting data. Greek history. The first marathon commemorated the run of the soldier, Pheidippides from a battlefield near the town of Marathon, Greece.
So there was a town in Greece called Marathon. He went all the way to Athens. According to legend, Pheidippides ran approximately 25 miles to announce the defeat of the Persians to some anxious Athenians.
So this is where it all came from. So we’re talking about history.
For thousands of years that we’ve had on this particular planet, it’s been known that running a marathon was something special.
Building brands is marathons.
They always are marathons.
So that’s one thing that I want you guys to have as a mentality.
You’re going to try things out. You’re going to fail. You’re going to actually go ahead and try it again. And you’re going to probably fail again. And you’re gonna keep on failing and continuing.
For most of the campaigns that you run, be prepared. They might be losers.
But in the end, as you master the art of advertising on social media, you’re going to become good at it.
Now, let’s be clear again here.
I know that you guys want to generate sales and you’re here because you want to build a brand that produces enough income for you to survive and have your dreams, have all your goals, all your aspirations.
But you’ve got to understand that what we’re trying to do here is way beyond just giving you survival this year, this present time, this week. Paying for a paycheck, for you to actually be able to buy some food.
We’re trying to build long-term wealth.
So what we’re going to try to do is a combination of two things.
And just two things.
We’re going to try to do a severe, intense, awesome branding effect for your brand and your products! While at the same time, going to try to build enough revenue and build a cash flow machine for you to survive and continue growing the company.
So those are different strategies.
A lot of the campaigns that we’re going to talk about are campaigns that are going to help you rank better if you have an Amazon listing. Or sell more if you have a listing on Shopify, on your own website or whatever it is.
We’re going to talk a lot about building brands there.
But also we’re going to talk a lot about grabbing whatever money that you have and putting it towards the long-term marathon that you’re running on building brands.
Building a brand is a marathon, not a sprint.
And you have to have the right mindset about this because you cannot be thinking a month in or two months in or even six months in that you’ve tried it and it didn’t work.
Because there are people that have been doing this for years, companies that have been building this stuff for years.
Big brands were not built in less than a year.
This is a very unknown phenomenon. It doesn’t happen.
There are very rare exceptions. Like for example, Instagram was built and 15 months later it was bought out for a billion dollars.
Most brands, 99.9% of them take years if not decades, to put themselves in a position to be a massive global phenomenon.
Now, today in age, what you are able to accomplish in 50 years, in 20 years, you can do in a couple of years.
My case in point. I built an Amazon brand from scratch. I had myself and two other partners, and we took that business selling bedsheets from zero to $6 million in sales in its second year.
We built a brand. That brand is there now for generations to come. We have our shops inside Amazon, outside Amazon, internationally. We are in Europe. We are everywhere now because we built the brand.
And building a brand is actually the right way to go about it. And I want to help you guys have a mindset, a viewpoint of going out there and putting yourself out there for generations to come.
Because when you’re done, when your body is not as young as it is today, you want to make sure that you can hand it over to your family, and then it can keep on going despite you not being around.
You’re trying to do this for a legacy.
You’re trying to stay there that – even if you’re gone, long gone, there’s a little trace of you that is going to hang around on this planet forever and ever.
So guys, let’s get ready to run a marathon. On this entire course., we’re going to be getting you ready to run a 26-mile super awesome marathon that’s going to help you plant your roots around the entire planet – that only your mind is going to be the only limit.
