I remember interviewing one of my successful students and telling them, “You don’t know, what you don’t know.”
Which is another way of saying get out there and learn!
The best part about this student was that they knew nothing about marketing when they first started their business.
But, after going through my course, he built an outstanding business in his home country of Mexico.
We even shared similar entrepreneurial struggles in the beginning.
So, I wanted to hear what advice he had for struggling entrepreneurs and business owners.
He immediately had some golden advice, two major factors of business.
And they’re both things I’ve promoted for a long, long time.
In fact… his second piece of advice is key for business owners to control their business revenue, no matter what rules social media platforms impose.
The Knowledge
The first factor we already briefly touched on; you don’t know, what you don’t know.
When you learn how to take advantage of the knowledge you accumulate power, and you start increasing your own worth as an individual.
Learning doesn’t just stop at the knowing phase, you have to implement it as well!
Most people know about a lot of things, but never get to actually do what they learned… so then they don’t go through any of the trial and errors, which is where the real learning is done.
And the best thing about it is that there’s a vast resource of knowledge out there called YouTube & Google.
That’s exactly what my student did when he learned from my mentor Ben Cummings, my friend Ezra Firestone, more.
The List
The second factor of business is one I have preached for a very long time and continue to do because it could very well be the difference between keeping the lights on or turning them off in business.
When you own a business, your customers and leads act as the well you tap into in order to create the money you need to survive.
So what do we call these customers and leads? We call them your “List.”
A list of emails, names, or phone numbers that you own so you can market to at any time you want.
Your business list is so powerful that you could send an email with a promotion and increase your revenue for that month just by sending one email.
Now imagine if you could do that with automation multiple times a week or day.
Technology has come that far, but here’s the thing…
We can’t promote every time otherwise it loses that feeling of uniqueness.
So what do we do? We provide VALUE to our list and give them the best information we can, and tell them stories that connect us closer to each other.
Someone who sends promotions most of the time feels like a sleazy salesman, that guy at the dealership who you don’t want coming over to you because you know all he wants is money.
Bonus Factor
When you learn how to talk to your list you will reap the rewards, but if you can increase the size of your list you can at the same time increase your chances of revenue.
But it all starts with learning and applying with the 1st major factor of business.
Then it’s just a matter of how you speak and grow your list.
That by itself can make the difference between being in business or not because it’s one of the only sources of revenues you own.
Master your list and you can master a major potential source of revenue.
