If you’re a business owner then you’ve probably had the idea come across your mind of “How do I become bigger than I am?”
And that could be interpreted in many ways, but I’m telling you right now that the most effective way to grow your business, collaborate with others, and generate awareness is through your brand.
After my mastermind weekend in Miami with Grant Cardone and other powerhouse business people, I took away some lessons that would help with this specific task of molding your brand.
Because believe it or not branding comes with its ups and downs.
People will speak badly about you, self-doubt can set in, and other roadblocks will hit you along the way but these lessons made it clear that none of that matters if you apply them, so here they are.
People Like Winners, and Like Seeing Winners Lose
This lesson helped me with the idea of yes, people will like seeing you win the more and more you put yourself out there, but there will always be people that will like to see you lose.
That’s something you can’t change so you need to be okay with it, while knowing that there are indeed others rooting for you too.
People are going to hate you, and when they do they’re going to want to see you fail. Not because it brings them joy, but because it validates their own self.
If you’ve ever noticed someone else expressing that a successful individual shouldn’t be successful, that’s because they aren’t successful themselves!
They feel better about themselves by seeing someone like yourself (in a position better than them) succumb to their level.
That’s what it boils down to, and it takes confrontation to be okay knowing people are out there like this, but when you know why it happens it makes it a lot easier to move on and execute your brand.
Use Whatever The Universe Gives You
When the universe serves you a plate of opportunity, you take it.
That’s exactly what happened when Covid hit, and we gave away our $2000 course for free!
In exchange, we asked people for their testimonials and got about 600 of them, but that wasn’t the only thing that came from it…
It boosted our business tenfold because of all the attention we were getting from our free course.
Everyone who took our course also counted as a lead, and you know what that means… We signed more clients than we had before.
This is all because the universe gave us an opportunity while everyone was at home spending more money online than ever before and we took advantage of it!
This goes for everything, if someone asks you to join their podcast, take it, if someone wants to collaborate on a project, take it because you never know what other doors are behind these opportunities and how far you can go afterward.
More People Are Looking at Your Content Than You Think
If you’ve ever posted something on social media and felt like you’re barely getting any engagement or likes, trust me–and Grant, that’s normal.
A majority of people are just watchers or “ghosts” that just look at the content and move on.
The ones who watch and leave a like or comment on your content are the loyal ones, those are the people who will help you grow.
But it’s completely normal, so any self-doubt that sets in is only hurting your future self because the ones who became as big as they are today went through the exact same thing!
No one starts with 1 million followers, it’s not realistic, so remember that there are more people looking at your content than you think and over time that number will continue to grow.
You Need Quantity to Get Quality
One of Grant Cardone’s points when it comes to clients and employees is that you need quantity to get the quality.
That may not be what everyone wants to hear but it definitely makes sense when you think about it.
Let’s say for every 10 leads you close 1. Well, wouldn’t that same principle apply to your best clients/employees too?
For every 10 clients you sign, you could get 1 high-paying client, and for every 10 hires you to get 1 amazing exec-worthy employee.
The numbers will vary but it proves that if you want to get the best quality you need to go through quantity!
In other words, you can’t get a small group of high-quality people for your business, unless you go through the quantity.
Now, you may be wondering how this helps you with your brand?
Well, if you look at your team as the ones running your brand (which they are) then that’s when you’ll notice that they are your brand as well.
So the higher quality team you have working for you, the better you can mold your brand.
