Projects end. Loops don't.

Before one of my recent live sessions, I gave an AI agent a job and then went into back-to-back meetings. While I was busy, it worked — for over an hour, on its own — and when I came back, the thing I needed was built. I opened the session by showing exactly that, because it demonstrates the concept I most want people to understand right now: the loop.

What a loop is

The way most people use AI is prompt, response. Ask, receive, ask again. You are the engine, and the machine is a very smart passenger. A loop is different. A loop is when you hand over a vision and a direction, and the direction gets executed — the machine works, checks its own output against the standard you set, improves it, and keeps going until the standard is met. It doesn't just answer you. It goes out and builds for you.

Anatomy of a loop, the way I teach it: dream it, design it, build it. Dream — visualize what should exist before the tool knows what to build. Design — define the inputs, the agents doing the work, the standards the output must meet, the memory it keeps, and the conditions that make it stop. Build — put the tools on it and let it run.

Why this matters for your business

Look at the problems that actually eat your weeks: conversion, content, follow-up, ad testing, keeping the numbers honest. Notice what they have in common — none of them is ever finished. You don't complete conversion optimization one Tuesday and move on. These are never-finished problems, and treating them as projects is why they exhaust you. A project wants an end date. These don't have one.

So stop running them as projects and start running them as loops: analyze, improve one thing, measure, remember, repeat. The loop never gets tired of the problem, never loses the thread, never forgets what it tried last month. That's the quality no human team can match — not intelligence, persistence.

Your first loop this week

1. Pick one repeated task that never stays solved — the one that keeps reappearing on your list no matter how many times you handle it.
2. Write the dream in plain language: what does handled-forever look like?
3. Define the pieces: inputs it reads, the agent that does the work, the scorecard that defines good, the memory it keeps between runs.
4. Decide the stop condition — what has to be true for the loop to pause and show you its work.
5. Run it, review it, tighten the standard, and run it again.

Your first job now is to dream what you want — to imagine what should exist. Then architect the system that makes it real, and let it run while you're in your meetings. That's the era we're in. Projects end. Loops don't — and that's exactly why they win.
